Dr. Masashi Hiraiwa currently serves as the President of Globiz Professional University.
He began his research career in computer science at the University of Tokyo, focusing on the development of compilers for structured programming languages in their early stages. At Keio University, under the supervision of Professor Okada in the Graduate School of Science and Technology, he conducted research on the architecture and control methods of mobile networks through autonomous distributed systems, earning his Doctorate in Engineering.

Upon joining Hitachi, Dr. Hiraiwa dedicated his career to the network business, engaging in development, commercialization, and management. From the 1980s through the 1990s, he contributed to the development and business expansion of digital telephone exchanges, including their deployment overseas in regions such as China and Africa. He also led joint development projects with major telecommunications providers in the United States. From 2000 to 2007, he was involved in the network solutions business for private sectors including finance, automotive, and railways.

From 2007 onward, he served as General Manager of the Strategic Management Division overseeing the network business at Hitachi’s Information & Communication Systems Group. During this period, he promoted the transition from product-oriented to service-oriented business models, spearheading initiatives such as transforming product businesses into solution and package offerings, and developing service platforms to expand service-based operations.

In 2023, Dr. Hiraiwa assumed the presidency of Globiz Professional University, where he has led initiatives in Digital Transformation (DX) education, developing innovative curricula in digital marketing and business strategy, and fostering industry-academia collaboration to enhance experiential learning. He also founded The Globiz Times, the university’s outreach magazine, and has promoted global collaboration through academic exchange and AI-enhanced project-based learning models. His leadership has positioned Globiz Professional University as a hub for co-creative education connecting academia, industry, and international communities.
