My overall research goal is set to understand the complex osmoregulation in animals in terms of mechanisms, neural and hormonal controls, diversity in forms and functions, evolution, potential medical application, aquaculture, and conservation. My primary animal model is fishes and other vertebrates and I am learning their osmoregulatory mechanisms, which are more advance and fascinating than human and mammalian models. My core research themes are on fish physiology, comparative endocrinology, and osmoregulation with multidisciplinary approaches with integration of physiological techniques, histology, molecular biology, and next-generation sequencing approaches. I aim to promote domestic and international collaborations including the potential applications of physiology knowledge to monitor and conserve biodiversity and environment.
