1966年2月生れ.
1991年3月三重大学大学院修了、同年5月から東京大学教養学部助手、1996年4月から同大学院総合文化研究科助手、1999年4月三重大学教育学部助教授、2011年4月同教授を経て2017年4月から現職.
（公財）日本オリンピック委員会や（公財）日本陸上競技連盟などの科学スタッフの一員とし て、オリンピックや世界選手権代表選手の強化支援に関わる医・科学サポート活動を行ってきており、国際競技力向上に関する支援活動に携わっている. 2010FIFA ワールドカップでは、40 日間日本代表チームに帯同し、高地対策 やコンディション管理を支援し、ロンドン、リオデジャネイロオリンピック等では競歩、マラソン代表選手をはじめ多くの選手の科学的支援を行った.現在、東京2020に向けた科学的支援の取り組み等を精力的に行っている．
