He moved on to AIST in April 2018 to gain knowledge and experience about wind energy.

He studied nuclear physics in Osaka University.
After his studies he had working for 23 years in TOSHIBA Corporation engaging in researches on industrial applications of plasma technology such as destruction of hazardous waste, or cleaning of exhausted gases from automobiles or factories.

He has been fascinated by the practical application of plasma aerodynamic control technology in this decade. It utilizes thin electrodes on the surface of the aerodynamic body. Small plasma generated around the electrodes by high voltage activation can give an influence in the boundary layer, which causes the improvement of the aerodynamic performance such as lift, drag, vibration, noise and so on.

He focused his research on application of this technology to Wind Energy. In highly fluctuated natural wind, this active flow control technology has the great potential to improve wind turbine performance and to decrease LCOE of wind energy.

He had conduct various experimental research including the following field tests using real wind turbine.
NOV.2010-MAR.2013 : MIE univ.30kW, 5m blades
APR.2013-AUG.2013 : V-66 1.75MW, 33m blades
APR.2014-JUN.2017: U-88E 2MW. 44m blades

In Apr.2018, he has changed his occupation to the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology(AIST). He is a member of the wind power team of Renewable Energy Research Center in FREA.

He started to join the research project of Plasma Wind turbine using their research turbine.

He is eager to discuss with engineers around the world about the future of this innovative technology for the global wind sector.
