High-energy protons emitted from a polymer-coated metal foil by 60-fs laser irradiation

High-energy protons are generated by a 60-fs-laser irradiation at 1.5 x 10(17) Wcm(-2) on a polymer-coated thin metal foil. The intensity of protons from the polymer-coated target is enlarged about 80-fold higher than that from the uncoated target. The maximum energy of proton from the polymer-coated target is twofold higher than that from the uncoated target.
