*Mutuwo Tomita was born in Nagoya, Japan, in 1965. He received the B.E. degree from Mie University, Tsu, Japan, in 1988, and the M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Nagoya University, Nagoya, in 1995 and 1998, respectively, all in electrical engineering. He was an Electrical Engineering Teacher at Shizuoka Prefectural Technical Senior High School, Japan, from 1988 to 1993. Since Oct. in 2013, he has been a Professor at National Institute of Technology, Gifu college, Gifu, Japan. His research interests are synchronous motors drives and machines. Prof. Dr. Mutuwo Tomita received the Paper Award from the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan(IEEJ). He is a member of the IEEE and a senior member of the IEEJ.

*In Nov. 2013, an ex-student of Prof. Mutuwo Tomita’s Lab., who transferred to university, gave a presentation about a research for our college graduation, at an international conference(IEEE
IECON2013-Vienna) held in Vienna, AUSTRIA. She received "IEEE Nagoya Section Conference Presentation Award" from IEEE Nagoya Section. Title: "A New Design Method of Full-Order Extended Electromotive Force Observer for Position Sensorless Control of IPMSM"

*In Sep. 2014, an advanced course student of Prof. Mutuwo Tomita’s Lab. gave a presentation about his graduation research, at an international conference(ICEM2014-Berlin) held in Berlin, GERMANY. He received "IEEE Nagoya Section Conference Presentation Award" from IEEE Nagoya Section. Title: "Position and Velocity Sensorless Control for Synchronous Reluctance Motor at Low Speeds and under Loaded Conditions Using High-Frequency Extended EMF Observer and Heterodyne Detection"

*In Nov. 2015, an advanced course student of Prof. Mutuwo Tomita’s Lab. gave a presentation about his graduation research, at an international conference(IEEE IFEEC2015-Tapei) held in Taipei, TAIWAN. He received "IEEE Nagoya Section Conference Presentation Award" from IEEE Nagoya Section. Title: "A Design Method of Full-Order Flux Observer for Realization of both MTPA Controland Position Sensorless Control of IPMSM"

*In Dec. 2016, a student of Prof. Mutuwo Tomita’s Lab. gave a presentation about her graduation research, at an international conference(IEEE SPEC2016-Auckland) held in Auckland, New Zealand. She received "IEEE Nagoya Section Conference Presentation Award" from IEEE Nagoya Section. Title: "Study of Influence of Inductance Variation of Position Sensorless Control of SynRM at Low Speeds by Estimating High-Frequency Extended EMF Caused by Superimposed Current"

*In Aug. 2017, a student of Prof. Mutuwo Tomita's Lab. gave two presentations at an international conference (ICEMS2017-Sydney) which was held in Sydney, Australia. A paper which was presented by him was selected as the "Best Paper Award" from "ICEMS2017-Sydney". And, he received "IEEE Nagoya Section Conference Presentation Award" from IEEE Nagoya Section.

*In Sep. 2018, a student of Prof. Mutuwo Tomita's Lab. gave a presentation at an international conference (ICEM2018-Alexandroupoli, Greece) which was held in Alexandroupoli, Greece. He received "IEEE Nagoya Section Conference Presentation Award" from IEEE Nagoya Section.

*In Nov. 2019, a student of Prof. Mutuwo Tomita's Lab. gave a presentation at an international conference (IFEEC2019-Singapore) which was held in Singapore. He received "IEEE Nagoya Section Conference Presentation Award" from IEEE Nagoya Section.
