「言語学」という大きな枠組みの中で、自然言語処理、eラーニング、第二言語習得、コーパス、国際共修、リンガフランカ、異文化間コミュニケーションなど、視点や切り口は変化していますが、照応をはじめとする「談話レベルの言語現象」（日本語および英語）に関心を持ち、談話分析の手法を用いた研究を継続して行っています。
