Dr Nayu Ikeda received her M.A. in Economics from Kobe University in 1997 and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Science from the University of Tsukuba in 2010. After working as a research resident at the National Institute of Public Health in Japan, she became a research fellow at the Harvard Initiative for Global Health in 2006 and a visiting scientist at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington (Seattle) in 2007. She was appointed as an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine in 2009, and a project lecturer in 2012. She moved to the National Institute of Health and Nutrition in Tokyo in 2013, and since 2018, Dr Ikeda serves as the section head of population health metrics at the International Center for Nutrition and Information. She received the Young Investigator Award from the Japan Epidemiological Association in 2015. She also serves as a member of the Reference Group on Health Statistics for the World Health Organization. She is a senior expert in epidemiology certified by the Japan Epidemiological Association.
