東京生まれ。お茶の水女子大学大学院卒、博士（理学）。専門は理論物理学、量子情報・計算、量子力学。豪州クイーンズランド大学・英国ウェールズ大学研究員を経て、2003年より国立情報学研究所助教授（准教授）、2010年より現職。英国物理学会フェロー。
