1) Ecological Engineering: interdisciplinary approach to ecosystem conservation in agricultural canals, ditches, and streams combining different perspectives of population genetics, ecology, and environmental science

2) Genetic Analysis: DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing analysis of mtDNA gene, DNA finger printing such as amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD), development of microsatelite DNA marker

3) Population Genetics & Phylogenetics: Estimation of genetic diversity and differentiation within and among freshwater fish populations, construction of phylogenetic tree

4) Statistic Analysis: multivariate statistic analysis using R and SPSS - linear model (LM), generalized linear model (GLM)

5) Freshwater Ecology: sampling / field survey of freshwater organisms, measurement of habitat factors in freshwater environments (e.g., hydraulics, water quality, and substrate conditions)
