農薬は水質管理目標設定項目に該当し,水道事業体等の水質検査機関は検出のおそれのある農薬を検査することが要請されている。本研究では,水質検査機関が水道原水の検査対象農薬を選定する際に活用できる情報を提供するため,環境水中に農薬が流入した際に水域内の農薬濃度を予測できるモデルの構築と159農薬の計算を行った。モデル計算結果より,農薬流入地点から30km下流地点における各農薬の残存率を算出して比較した。

利根川水系の浄水場で高濃度ホルムアルデヒドが検出された水質汚染の原因物質を探索した.汚染発生時の水道原水からヘキサメチレンテトラミンが検出され,試料中ホルムアルデヒド生成能との間に高い相関が認められた.また,ヘキサメチレンテトラミンから理論上生成するホルムアルデヒドを算出したところ,同試料のホルムアルデヒド生成能とほぼ一致した.よって,本水質汚染の主な原因物質はヘキサメチレンテトラミンと結論した.
