The Earthquake Information Distribution System for Railway has been developed in order to distribute earthquake information, which contributes to rapid resumption of train operation and effective restoration of railway facilities, in a timely manner just after the occurrence of an earthquake. The system estimates a spatial variation of strong motions along rails, using seismic data published by National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention and a ground amplification database developed by Railway Technical Research Institute, and immediately disseminates the information to railway companies.
