Profile

My research interest is in the area of German philosophy, especially the post-Kantian Philosophy.
I am currently studying the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860). I treat his thought and its formation from the viewpoint of the post-Kantian movement in the German philosophical history in order to reveal the new aspect of the post-Kantian Philosophy and consider its meaning for actual problems.
Currently, I'm also studying the philosophy of Jakob Friedrich Fries (1773-1843). Fries and Schopenhauer belong to the philosophers who constitute genealogy other than the so-called "German Idealism" and they are mostly forgotten in the history of philosophy today. However, they have actually had a great influence on their contemporaries, and therefore the real picture of the 19th century German philosophy will be clear for the first time by revealing their thoughts. Hence they also present new ideas on philosophy and its historical meaning.
Hence I'm studying the 19th century German philosophical history alternative to the German Idealism in order to reconsider the potential of the post-Kantian Philosophy and Kantianism itself.
