西田 玲子

Dr. Nishida earned her Ph.D. in Law from the University of Tsukuba, specializing in anti-discrimination frameworks and reasonable accommodation for persons with disabilities. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Waseda University’s Institute of Comparative Law, supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Also she was a visiting scholar at the Sigur Center for Asian Studies, George Washington University (Oct.2024–Aug.2025). Her research focuses on affirmative action and policies promoting equal employment opportunities for marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities, women, sexual minorities, and foreign workers.

In 2026, as a Taiwan Fellowship recipient, Dr. Nishida will conduct a comparative study of Taiwan and Japan on gender, migration, and labor policy, with an emphasis on reproductive rights of migrant women. Her work examines how legal frameworks—such as visa systems and gender equality laws—shape reproductive autonomy and family integration, while exploring the lived experiences of migrant women navigating work and family life in aging societies.
