優れた食味、高い観賞性をはじめとする野菜・花卉類の有用形質は、原種からの育種の過程で生み出された多様な変異の蓄積によるものです。私は、野菜・花卉類の育種の過程で起こる変異の発生機構、ならびに、変異の蓄積によって生み出される有用形質の分子機構の解明を目指しています。さらに、これらの知見に基づき、優れた形質を持つ野菜・花卉の育種素材の開発に取り組んでいます。
