Surgical operations cannot be completed without a human to operate medical devices and make various judgments. In the evaluation and development of new medical devices and therapies, how health professionals master medical devices is an important issue. Thus, we have quantitatively evaluated effectiveness and skills regarding both machines and humans using ergonomic methods such as motion analysis and kinesthetic measurement.
We have been developing display methods for clinical images to maximize the utilization of human sensory abilities. Our researches are contributing not only to better medical device design, but also to the development of surgical training simulators, enhancement of medical education systems, and improvement of clinical safety.
