Competition between Kondo effect and ferromagnetic interaction in skutterudite La1-xSmxFe4P12

We present the magnetic properties of a filled skutterudite La1-xSmxFe4P12. SmFe4P12 is a heavy ferimon compound with a novel ferromagnetic ground state. The magnetic susceptibility for x less than or equal to 0.4 shows a nearly temperature-independent Pauli paramagnetism, but samples for 0.6 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.85 reveals a broad maximum around 15 K.
