The vacuum ultraviolet spectra of highly charged tungsten ions W25+-W63+ are calculated with the collisional-radiative modeling. The synthesized spectra of total tungsten ions are obtained using the fractional abundance of the ionization equilibrium. The synthesized spectra explain the vacuum ultraviolet spectra observed for JT-60U plasmas at central electron temperatures of 6 and 10 keV. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
