On the assumption that a filter cake is incompressible and uniform, two-dimensional cake growth during slip casting of a rectangular body was simulated by FEM (Finite-Element Method). The simulation result showed that the profile of cake front changed with time from a rectangle to a parabola. The parabolic profile will appear owing to the simultaneous deposits of solid particles on the horizontal and vertical surfaces of a rectangular porous mold.
