Development of a Triple-product Centrifugal Classifier using Almost Rigidly Rotating Flow

On a centrifugal triple-product classifier, we have made classification experiments in order to verify the numerical performance. As a result, we obtained triple products from the feed-particles, but the experimental performance was worse than numerical one. The reason is that feed-particles scarcely entered Stewartson layers as the main classification field in the experiments. In order to adjust particle trajectories, we changed shapes of housing- and core-walls (radius of the core corner and radial interval between the core and housing) and conditions of flow-rates. Consequently, the experimental performance improved considerably.
