We observed the shish-kebab structure formation process of polyethylene blends using time-resolved depolarized light scattering technique. The effects of adding ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) components were focused on. In case of lower crystallization temperature (127 °C), the streak like scattering profile normal to the shear direction could be observed on concentration of UHMWPE above 1 %. Such streak-like scattering profiles are caused by the existence of shish-like structure. However, in higher crystallization temperature condition (130.5 C), the streak-like scattering could be observed only in concentration of UHMWPE 2 %. This suggests that the UHMWPE chains have strong effects on shish-like structure. The structural formation process correlates with both crystallization process and relaxation process of stretched chains under shear.
