My research focuses on the medical ethics issues discussed in Japan today, specifically those of organ transplantation, informed consent, terminal care, and distribution of medical resources, with a concern to avoid the imposition of Western views and practices on Japan. I also develop workshops and support programs for medical staff, including spiritual care for the dying, bereaved, and their caretakers.
