動力循環式チェーン試験装置を用いて,ローラチェーンの騒音の発生機構を調べた。まず,音圧分布とローラ,リンクプレート,スプロケットの各方向振動加速度を測定した。その結果,騒音はかみあい点近傍ではローラ,少し離れるとスプロケットの軸方向屈曲振動に起因することがわかった。なお,これらは高周波域にある。また,低周波域にあるかみあい周波数も騒音に現れる。さらに,ローラの屈曲振動の理論解析も行った。

鉄道騒音において重要なものは,車輪とレールの干渉によって生じる車輪の屈曲振動であるが,それは,車輪が厚いために薄板として解析することができず,せん断変形と回転慣性の影響を考慮する必要がある.また,新幹線車輪のような場合には,二段の厚さの円板として解析しなければならない.本論文は以上のことを考慮して車輪の屈曲振動を解析し,実験結果と一致することを見出すとともに,その特性に関して数々の知見を得た.
