This paper studies a successive optimal construction procedure of state feedback gains. This topic was first studied in the context of the pole assignment problem for LQ (linear-quadratic) regulators, but the selection of weighting matrices in each successive step was restricted in previous researches. In this paper, we consider more general selections of weighting matrices, and give extended results in both the continuous-time and the discrete-time cases.
