Multistatic radar is a technique that enables us to zoom up the dynamics of the atmosphere compared with conventional monostatic radar. Firstly, we made multistatic observations using two receiver arrays consisting of ten digital receivers each, which were set at approximately 1300m apart in the west and south, respectively, from the Equatorial Atmosphere Radar. In the observations, clutters from the ground and mountains are strengthened as multistatic-receiver arrays have higher sidelobe level than that of usual monostatic radar with a large aperture or array, and they affect Doppler velocity estimations of atmospheric echoes. Applying a minimum-variance adaptive algorithm, we have successfully obtained clean atmospheric echoes previously buried under strong clutters.
