兵庫県生まれ。札幌大学英語学科・米国ポートランド州立大学卒。米国オレゴン州立大学博士課程修了（Ph.D)1981年。ハーバード大学・文部省研究プロジェクト客員研究員。ハーバード・ロースクールにて交渉学上級講座＆ミディエーション講座修了。 ハーバード大学名誉教授で元駐日米国大使のエドウィン・ライシャワー博士がハ夫人と来道の際，公式通訳として各地へ随行（1989年9月）。

Visiting Scholar at Harvard assisted with the Ministry of Education grant 1992-1993. Completed Harvard Law School Project--Program of Instructions for Lawyers Advanced Program(June,1993 & Mediation Program(June,1994)

Served as an official interpreter for the late Dr. Edwion O.Reischauer(Professor Emeritus at Harvard & former Ambassador to Japan under the Kennedy Administration) during his stay in Hokkaido with his wife Haru in September 1989 visiting many lecture halls & places. The former Chairman of Japan International Society for Negotiations.

Currently, Professor at Sapporo University & the Executive Director of the America-Japan Associations of Hokkaido(AJSH).
