Susumu Ueno is the Professor of Emeritus of Accounting at Konan University, Japan. He received his MBA from the University of Maryland and his DBA from Southern Illinois University.
Professor Ueno is the chair of the board of directors of Asia-Pacific Management Accounting Association (APMAA) and the Chief Editor of Asia-Pacific Management Accounting Journal (APMAJ, 2010- ). He served as the APMAA President from Jan. 2010 to Dec. 2013.
As a member of the Japanese Association of Management Accounting (JAMA), Professor Ueno was the Editor-in-chief of The Journal of Management Accounting, Japan (JMAJ) from April 2014 to March 2017. In JAMA, he served as the past Vice President (2008-2011) and was the Executive Director from 2002 to 2017. The association gave Professor Ueno its Special Award in 2014, in recognising his contributions to both research and education and his history of service to the academic community.
Professor Ueno is the author of management accounting books such as Management Accounting: The Quest for Value (Zemu-keiri-kyokai 4th edn. 2008), Budget Control Practices among U.S. and Japanese Companies: Cross-cultural Approach (Moriyama-Shyoten, 1997 and 1993). He is also the editor and co-author of many books. Professor Ueno has published his research in various journals, including Asia-Pacific Management Accounting Journal, The Journal of International Business Studies, and The International Journal of Accounting Education and Research.
