2012年に発行されるBraun and Cookの新しいモノグラフによってうどんこ病菌の分類体系が属および種レベルで改訂される。この改訂に従って日本産うどんこ病菌の学名も書き換える必要がある。その資料とするため,本論文において,分類体系改訂の概要を述べるとともに,日本産うどんこ病菌の新旧学名対照表を示した。11の完全世代属と264種15変種を日本産うどんこ病菌としてリストアップした。

1999年5月に高知県土佐市で栽培されているカーネーションの葉,茎およびがくに,白い粉状のもので覆われ,商品性を著しく損なう病害が発生した.菌糸は葉,茎およびがくの表面を分岐しながら表生し,通常菌糸の片側から単純なこぶし状の付着器を形成する.分生子柄は菌糸から垂直に生じ先端に分生子を単生する.分生子は楕円形〜長楕円形〜円筒形で,大きさ30〜52×11〜20μm,内部にはフィブロシン体はなく,多数の顆粒状内容物および液胞を有する.閉子のう殻は観察されなかった.以上の形態的特徴から,本菌はEr...
