従来のRDBのユーザはSQL、OODBのユーザはC++などデータモデルによって異なる操作言語を習得しなければならなかった。我々はこれらの異なる二つのDBを統一的に操作する枠組を提案する。この枠組はビュー機能に基づいている。ここで提案するビュー機能は従来の検索機能に加え、ビュー間での生成、移動、追加、コピーなどのデータ操作によってDBの変更操作ができる。ビュー機能を用いたデータベース操作は、（）ユーザが容易にデータを入力できる、（）ビューに基づいたユーザインターフェイスはGUIに対しての親和性が高い、（）ビュー機能は他のデータモデルにも適応可能である、などの利点がある。Conventional users of RDB and OODB must learn different types of data manipulation languages such as SQL and C++. We propose a unified framework for data retrieval and manipulation of these two types of data models. The frame work is based on view function. A user can retrieve entities using ordinary views. He can also manipulate the database using moving, adding and copying entities between two views. This approach has three advantages: (1) the user can easily create and manipulate database entities, (2) view based user interface is suitable for GUI, and (3) the view function can also be used to handle other data models.
