A method to simulate the process of forging and incorporating strain-induced austenitic-martensite transformation is formulated in the Eulerian description and the feasibility is investigated. This method uses a finite volume mesh for material flow and an automatically refined facet surface to accurately trace the free surface of the deforming material. By means of this finite volume method, an approach has been developed in the framework of metallo-then-no-mechanics to simulate the behavior of the metallic structure, temperature and stress/strain. The outline of the algorithm is described and a verification example with experimental data is given for comparison. A practical forging process of a bevel gear is shown to demonstrate the applicability.
