Dr. Takehiko Kubota is the Associate Professor of the Department of Periodontics and Implantology at the Niigata University Medical and Dental Hospital. He received his DDS and a PhD in Periodontology and Oral Biology from the Niigata University. He later received his board-certified in Periodontology and periodontics from Japanese Society of Periodontology, then his Certificate in Implantology from Niigata University Medical and Dental Hospital. He subsequently completed postdoctoral research in Periodontology and Immunology at the University of Glasgow Dental School and Hospital (Prof D. Kinane). Dr. Kubota served as a faculty member at the Niigata University Dental Hospital. Dr. Kubota has been a faculty member at Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Niigata University since 1998 and served as the Assistant Professor for Department of Periodontology from 1999-2005, then as the Associate Professor. He has previously served as a Visiting Professor at the Periodontology at the University of Harbin, China in 2013 and 2017.
Dr. Kubota has published and lectured extensively in the areas of Periodontal Regenerative Medicine, Personalized Medicine and the Pathogenesis of Periodontal Diseases. Dr. Kubota is the Editor of several national and international dental journals. He is a mentor for the Implant treatment (Nobel Biocare, Tokyo) and an adviser for Er-YAG laser treatment (Morita, Kyoto). He is a member of the Periodontal Medicine as well as Oral Implant committees of Japanese Association of Periodontology. Dr. Kubota is a board-certificated periodontal specialist of Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare as well as a board-certificated instructor of periodontist of Japanese Association of Periodontology.
He has received the Young Investigator Award from Japanese Society of Periodontology (1998), from Japanese Society of Conservative Dentistry (2005). the Senior Investigator Award from Japanese Society of Conservative Dentistry (2008), the Best Paper Award from Japanese Society of Periodontology (2016), from Japanese Society of Conservative Dentistry (2016), the Basic Research Award from International Academy of periodontology (2017), the Excellent Clinical Research Award from Osteology Foundation (2017), and most recently, the Senior Investigator Award from Japanese Society of Periodontology (2018).
