In this paper, we report the development of non-contact type alcohol concentration detection method using a quartz crystal resonator. This detection method was realized by using an interdigital capacitor (IDC) located at a backside of glass substrate for sensing the liquid on the substrate. Multi-point measurement can be done by fabricating multichannel IDC. Frequency changes by a change in the relative permittivity caused by dropping the liquid on the substrate. Since the relative permittivity is dependent on the concentration of the liquid, it is possible to measure the concentration of alcohol. The proposed method is expected to use for non-contact measurements of liquids.
