水素ハイドレートは高圧で安定なH_20とH_2の分子間化合物であり,タイプIIのクラスレートハイドレート構造および充填された氷の構造が2種類あって,合計では3種類が存在する。それは太陽系外部の惑星・衛星をつくる物質である可能性が高く,また水素の貯蔵物質として将来が期待されている物質である.水素ハイドレート中の水素は固体としては異常に拡散が速い.日本の惑星科学界における今後の水素ハイドレート研究の進展への指針となることを期待して,その惑星科学的応用へ向けた筆者の見解を示す.
