1981年京都大学工学部合成化学科卒業。1987年京都大学大学院工学研究科合成化学専攻修了。工学博士。1986～88年日本学術振興会特別研究員。1988～93年ファイザー製薬中央研究所勤務。1993年名古屋大学大学院人間情報学研究科博士前期入学、95年同課程修了。名古屋大学、滋賀大学などの非常勤講師を経て1999年名古屋文理大学教授に就任。2006年より名古屋大学全学同窓会評議員。人間情報学研究科・情報文化学部同窓会長。
