An Experimental investigation of basic mechanical characteristics of brick masonry and its constituent elements is discussed in this paper. Totally 14 types of tests, including uniaxial test, flexural test, prism test, triplet test, and shear-compression tests with different angles of inclination and with different sizes were conducted in order to reveal the basic properties of the constituent elements of masonry. The deformation characteristics of the brick were obtained from uniaxial compression tests. Triplet and duplex speciments with different angles of inclination were designed to assess the friction coefficient of the joints.
