Haruko Noguchi

Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in January 1965. Graduated from the School of Political Science and Economics of Waseda University (BA and MA) and from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (Ph.D. in Economics). For her Ph.D. dissertation, she was honored with The Pre-Doctoral Training Fellowship Award from the Health Care Financing Administration, which is now known as the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Joined the Department of Public Health and Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research of Stanford University as a Social Science Research Associate and National Bureau of Economic Research as a Research Analyst in 1997-2000. She assumed numerous research and teaching positions, including Research Fellow of the Economic and Social Research Institute/Cabinet Office, Faculty Fellow of the Research Institute of Economy, Trade & Industry/IAA, Associate Professor/ Toyo Eiwa University, Senior Researcher of the Department of Theoretical Social Security Research at National Institute of Population and Social Security Research. Assumed position of Professor, Faculty of Political Science and Economics of Waseda University, as of April 2012. As of 2013, She is a public interest committee of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Health Insurance Bureau, Central Social Insurance Medical Council. She was awarded the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2021, and is a member of the Science Council of Japan as of 2023. Her specialized fields are Health Economics, Economics of Education, Labor Economics, and Applied Micro Econometrics.
