マレーシアサラワク州ニア造林試験地において、残存林、二次林、草原に植栽された7種について異なる植栽環境下でどのような生態生理特性を持つか、光合成生産に着目して比較検討した。葉面積ベースでの日純生産量は、草原区で最も高く、次に二次林区、残存林区の順であった。各処理区間での純生産の差はきわめて大きかった。しかし、個体重当たりの日純生産量ではこの差が相対的に縮まった。これは残存林区と二次林区でのSLAの増加による個体重当たりの葉面積の増加が貢献したためと考えられた。
