At present, rites of passage, and religion have become very weak in modern Japanese society. On the other hand, the traditional ceremony regarding the climacteric has remained strong. That is to say, the climacteric ceremony lurks deep in the Japanese subconscious. In recent years, some of the local governments have tried to use the climacteric ceremony to galvanize their respective economies. Here, I would like to analyze my investigation concerning the process of transition for local areas, families, relationships with relatives, religion, and other changes, related to the climacteric ceremony. Most importantly, this paper will demonstrate how the climacteric ceremony can be used to boost local economies. This research investigation will use the "Kinekosa Festival" as a case studied. As a result of the investigation, we found the "Yakutosikai" (Association of the Climacteric) plays a very important role in the "Kinekosa Festival," whereas the "Yakutosikai" still faces some problems, such as the membership only accepts gentleman, expensive membership fees, difficulty of assembling members, and the 3 year active membership limitation, to name a few. After the 2011 earthquake that struck the Tohoku region, the tourism business in the Tohoku area has sharply decreased. The climacteric ceremony tied with the Tohoku Festival could promote tourism, which is the hypothesis for this paper.
