Profile

My major research interest is in the evolution and ecology of left-right asymmetry (laterality) and speciation mechanisms. Within the clade of Spiralia/Lophotrochozoa, left-right reversal has recurrently evolved in snails with internal fertilization despite its copulating disadvantage but not in externally fertilizing snails or in the other spiralian phyla. Currently I am tackling this puzzle by multidisciplinary approaches.
