Of late, many researchers have actively studied electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) using a spectrum of electrode materials in nonaqueous solvents, because electrochemical conversion of CO2 in organic solvent is advantageous in many ways. The electrochemical conversion of CO2 in methanol medium-based electrolyte salts is summarized in this chapter. The chapter discusses the effects of electrolyte containing salt, electrode materials and current potential on the reduction of CO2 in methanol medium. Generally, the electroreduction products (CH3COOH, HCOOH, CH4, C2H4, and CO) decide the pathway mechanism of electroreduction of CO2. The product formation depends on the nature of the electrode material, the operating potential, the electrolyte salt, and the temperature. Additionally, the CO2 concentration at the vicinity of the electrode and the nature of the electrolyte (aqueous or nonaqueous) determine the product formation.
