We report the effects of uniaxial strain on the single crystals of the organic superconductor κ-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu(NCS)2. The strain was applied to the crystal along the direction parallel to the in-plane c-axis by the epoxy-crystal method. Under the external pressure of 1kbar, the superconducting transition temperature (TC) increased by about 1K and simultaneously the resistance peak around 90K was enhanced, suggesting the significant role of the electron correlation. With further increasing the pressure, both the TC and the peak structure were suppressed. © 2002 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
