In this study, producing vanillin and syringaldehyde (SALD) from various kinds of woody raw materials were investigated by the mechanochemical milling and the high-temperature liquid water treatments. Vanillin and SALD could be converted to valuable chemical resources by strain SYK-6. For the case of high-temperature liquid water treatment of Japanese cedar, vanillin and SALD could be recovered more efficiently by the combination of micronization and amorphization using both hammer mill and converge mill treatment, rather than by only micronization using hammer mill.
