I have developed the first behavioral experimental system for blink reflex conditioning in mice by applying physicochemical methods to biological and psychological fields (NeuroReport 1997). I will use other diverse behavioral experimental systems to elucidate the synaptic and molecular basis of memory as well as to develop treatments for various neuropsychiatric disorders (Sci. Rep. 2019, Cell Rep. 2017, J. Neurosci. 2014). We are particularly interested in the mechanisms of autism spectrum disorders (Neuron 2016), head trauma (Neurosci Lett 2016), prion disease (Sci. Rep. 2020, Plos One 2013), and Alzheimer's disease (Brain Res 2013). Other research projects include the development of animal models of placebo responses and the initiation of research productivity in the School of Pharmacy.
