専門:素粒子物理学実験。
大強度陽子加速器(J-PARC)を用いて作り出した人工ニュートリノビームとスーパーカミオカンデ検出器による、ニュートリノの性質の研究(T2K実験)。 ニュートリノ振動によるレプトンセクターでのCP非保存現象の探索、および陽子崩壊の探索を行うための将来計画「ハイパーカミオカンデ」の準備研究。 半導体検出器技術、およびそれを生かした新型光検出器の開発。

1.5mm角シンチレーションファイバー1024本を32本ずつ32層にまとめ,マルチアノード型光電子増倍管で読み出す新型微細検出器を作成し,カナダTRIUMF研究所でビーム照射試験を行った。150-375MeV/cの領域で運動量を変えながらπ+/π-それぞれを照射し,合計で2000万トリガー以上の散乱データを記録した。取得したデータは現在解析中であるが,散乱事象と思われるものをいくつか図示してみたところではπ中間子の散乱の様子が明瞭に捉えられており,ニュートリノ散乱の詳細研究に重要となるπ中...

本研究は、日本で現在準備が進められている東海-神岡長基線ニュートリノ振動実験を初めとする次世代のニュートリノ振動実験の成功に不可欠な、1GeV付近のエネルギー領域でのニュートリノ-核子散乱断面積を詳細に測定する事を目的として行った。高エネルギー加速器研究機構で行われたK2K実験のデータ解析では、特に荷電カレントπ生成反応の研究を行った。荷電π・中性πの両方の解析を行い、結果は国際会議等で報告したほか近々論文を投稿する見込みである。また、前年度に引き続き米国フェルミ国立加速器研究所(FNAL...
