Yamagata dialect is used widely in nursing facilities in Yamagata. It not easy for non-native Japanese nursing staff or non-native learners of nursing to understand the language used in nursing facilities, if they have no knowledge of Yamagata dialect. We are developing educational materials using local expressions to create a system which we have termed "Easily understandable Yamagata Dialect." This report covers the features of the material, the process of development and the problems encountered.
