九州大学北海道演習林のカラマツ造林は、1950年に始まり、以降現在まで毎年継続されている。北海道演習林では、古くから無節材等の良質材生産を目標としたカラマツの育林技術に関する実践的研究が実施されてきたが、その成果品である製材品の展示が求められてきた。そのような中、2012年10月に北海道演習林産カラマツ材を利用した木造講義棟が建築された。構造用材には60年生林分から生産されたカラマツ角材が用いられ、内装材・外装材・床材は地元十勝産のカラマツ板材が使用され、学生の教材、専門家や一般市民を対象...
