友澤 宏隆

I teach English language and linguistics at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. I hold a B.A. in linguistics from Tohoku University (1986) and an M.A. in English language and linguistics from the University of Tokyo (1989). My research interests focus on exploring the lexicon, syntax and semantics of English and Japanese. I work primarily within the framework of cognitive linguistics, but I tend to get outside it and look at things from a wider perspective to find new facts about language and languages. All this has its origin in my childhood: I studied Chinese with a TV course for about three years beginning in 1974, when I was a sixth-grader and had not started studying English.
