Learning-based interaction and development of artificial emotion for a face robot

We have developed and improved the mechanical informatic functions of a face robot that can display human-like facial expressions of 6 basic emotions and also can recognize them expressed on human face. The face robot is equipped with both sensory function and motor one for human facial expression. We are now underway to develop an innovative technology of emergence of "artificial emotion" through applying reinforcement learning algorithm to the face robot's sensory-motor coordination in the course of facial communication interaction between face robot and human partner.
