This paper, covering previous research into policy termination theory, is a discussion paper for a preliminary study. Specifically, consideration is given to the concept of policy termination, factors which influence policy termination, and future policy termination research. Finally, due consideration should be given to the establishment of a policy termination theory as one field of public policy studies.
