Wendy Jones Nakanishi was born in Goshen, Indiana, USA 21 June 1954. She obtained her BA with special departmental honors in English at Indiana University in 1976, her MA in 18th-century English studies at Lancaster University (England) in 1978, and her PhD on the letters of the 18th-century English poet, Alexander Pope, at Edinburgh University (Scotland) in 1984. She worked as a 'Guest Professor' at Tokushima Bunri University's Kagawa campus (Japan) from 1984-1989 and has been employed as a full-time tenured member of staff at Shikoku Gakuin University (Zentsuji) since 1989. She has published widely in 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st-century English and Japanese literature, as well as 'creative non-fiction' detailing her experiences as a wife, mother and academic in rural Japan.
